When you deal with RTL text, things like bidi text display, caret navigation and text selection are a big pain point. I propose a solution that can improve UX for RTL users.
Proposed Bidirectional Text Display And Caret Navigation And Text Selection (contains explanation about the issues too):
If there are any issues with the proposed solution (excluding caret add/remove) please feel free to let me know.
If you have solution (something better) for caret add/remove, feel free to jump in to the conversation.
I know both English (LTR) and Persian/Farsi (RTL - Arabic alphabet). I'm open to questions and any discussion that can help improve RTL support.
I'm interested to know how this is seen if this was to be implemented as a real solution. Let's focus on if this is seen as a better UX or does oponions differ.
I'm not proposing a breaking change, because that could be problamatic. How this is going to be implemented is not up to me and I don't want to get into that.
What is the issue with the HTML Standard?
